#TogetherForBedfordshire | #NotMyChild | Our continuing campaign to get lethal weapons off our streets has seen plenty of enforcement action and success in Luton over the past few days.
Our @Luton Community Policing Team team has seized three zombie knives after a series of raids and arrests.
The first was at an AirB&B site after intelligence received suggested it was being used for drug-related activities.
As well as a zombie knife, officers found cash, class A drugs and a set of scales. Three people were arrested.
Another knife was recovered after officers executed a warrant, arresting a teenager on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
And in Farley Hill, officers carrying out inquiries into reports of anti-social behaviour arrested two men. A subsequent search revealed a set of knuckle dusters and another zombie knife.
We remain committed to doing everything we can to keep these dangerous and illegal weapons out of the hands of young people.
Enforcement is a vital part of our approach, but it is only one element.
We continue to work closely with partners, schools, families and local communities to tackle the root causes of knife crime and support long-term prevention and early intervention.
We're encouraging anyone with information or concerns about knife carrying to come forward and report it, so we can take action at the earliest opportunity.
We're also working hard to urge young people to make the right choice and for parents to spot signs of exploitation.
